The best MMO combat systems place 3 – Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2 was chosen by you with 13 percent as the game with the third-best combat system. The online role-playing game from ArenaNet takes place many years after the first part. The entire world has been devastated and redesigned by dragons and disasters. Your heroes are right in the middle, and for the first time in the Guild Wars series, you can play not only humans but also Charr, Asura, Norn, and Sylvari.
Guild Wars 2 – The combat system – Neither fish nor flesh, but surf and turf
In its combat system, Guild Wars 2 straddles the fence. On the one hand, there are fixed targeting and automatic attacks similar to World of Warcraft. On the other hand, you can also hit enemies around you with your area attacks and actively dodge attacks.
Guild Wars 2 plays a bit slower than completely free games like WildStar or TERA, but compared to most classes from WoW and Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 plays pleasantly fast. It is a good compromise between pure action and relaxed dungeon chess.
Guild Wars 2 – Skills – Strict division of tasks
Regarding the skills you use in battle, Guild Wars 2 deviates from the free choice options of its predecessor. Instead, half of your 10 active skills are fixed to your respective weapons. There is only one version of each skill, so you cannot choose other sword skills than your teammates. All sword fighters have the same skills.
One skill from your regular selection must be a healing skill, as Guild Wars 2 expects every hero to be able to heal themselves. Three other skills must be support skills, such as defensive buffs or battle cries.
One skill is your ultimate skill, which is particularly powerful but has a long cooldown. All healing, support, and ultimate skills depend on your chosen class.
By the way, your class choice also gives you additional skills for your attacks, such as the adrenaline weapon attacks of the warrior, special attack spells from the mage, or sneaky tricks from the thief. This way, the rather narrow selection is still loosened up.
