The best MMO combat systems place 4 – The Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online is a complex online role-playing game from Zenimax, and 11 percent of you found that it had the best combat system.
ESO takes place in the world of the famous Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. Since the story in the MMO takes place hundreds of years before the other parts of the series, the developers can indulge without interfering with the other games.
You will regularly encounter familiar places, such as the Gold Coast from Oblivion or the entire island of Vvardenfell, which is the setting in the big new addon Morrowind. The Elder Scrolls Online’s gameplay is strongly oriented toward the well-known Elder Scrolls games. You only level skills that you actively use and have equipped, and thanks to scaling levels, you can freely explore the entire world.
ESO – The combat system – Comfortable duel
The combat system of The Elder Scrolls Online has a few peculiarities that set it apart from the crowd. It is a dynamic action system that, compared to TERA, WildStar, or Black Desert Online, is rather relaxed. You won’t be constantly bouncing around like a rubber ball.
Rather, you deal damage with your primary weapon either with light or heavy hits and block heavy attacks from the opponent. This will stagger the enemy, allowing you to temporarily knock them down with a heavy blow.
For attacks that you cannot block, you dodge with rolls. You aim with a crosshair at your enemies, but you can also lock onto a target. Nevertheless, you must look in the right direction and be within range to hit.
The Elder Scrolls Online – No cooldowns on skills
Another feature of ESO is that you only get three skill trees directly from your class. Most of the skills come from your weapon or from various factions you are members of. But no matter what skills you have, in ESO you will search in vain for: Cooldowns!
While other games limit your playstyle with cooldowns, you only need to supply your skills with enough magic and stamina in ESO. As long as the resources are adequate, you can spam to your heart’s content. Only your ultimate ability requires a special resource that regenerates slowly.
Also cool: certain skills trigger synergy effects that your teammates can then utilize. For example, mages can execute a lightning attack that allows their teammates for a short time to also perform minor lightning attacks.
On the next page, we will continue with a game that relies on a mixture of action and tab-targeting.
