Legends of Runeterra – New Cards and 2v2 Mode
Genre: Card game | Developer: Riot Games | Platform: PC, iOS, Android | Release Date: April 28, 2020 | Model: Free2Play
What kind of game is this? The card game Legends of Runeterra is reminiscent of a mix between Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. Thus, both players take turns during a round and can sabotage their opponent’s action with instant spells.
This leads to more challenging battles and greater variety than, for example, Hearthstone, but does not go too deep, allowing beginners to find their way quickly.
The game targets fans of League of Legends, who can use their champions from the game as well as characters from the lore in general.
A match usually lasts no longer than 15 minutes. Tips for getting started in the free card game can be found in the MeinMMO beginner’s guide to Legends of Runeterra.
These are the Highlights of Legends of Runeterra
The LoL card game offers you:
- 5 different game modes, including Expeditions, where you must randomly assemble a deck, and Labs, a mode that offers changing challenges.
- Over 600 different cards, of which you can include 40 in your deck. Each card can be included up to three times in the deck.
- Familiar heroes and creatures from League of Legends.
- A fair payment system that relies not on card packs but on direct purchases.
Why You Should Play Legends of Runeterra in March
Legends of Runeterra has evolved significantly since its release nearly a year ago. Over 300 new cards and numerous champions have been added.
On March 3, the new expansion “Empires of the Ascended” was released. This brings several interesting innovations:
- New cards
- The Champion Mastery, a progression system where you can show how well you master a specific champion.
- A 2v2 mode, where you can participate in a match together with friends or random players
Legends of Runeterra has also begun a seasonal tournament series. The big finale of this season already took place on February 28, but more tournaments are planned.
