Outlook: What else is happening in January
In January, in addition to these 5 major new releases, there are also two releases that do not have an official date yet. This makes it difficult to recommend them for January, as they theoretically might only appear on January 31 and then would not play a role for the month.
Broken Ranks
What kind of game is this? Broken Ranks is a free-to-play MMORPG in an isometric perspective similar to Lost Ark or Diablo. It relies on a dark atmosphere and a non-linear story. The game world combines a mix of 2.5D and 3D graphics.
What’s particularly interesting about Broken Ranks is the turn-based combat system, where you have 10 seconds to decide on an action. With this combat system, you can navigate through battles in the game world and dungeons and participate in PvP content in specially created areas.
The MMORPG also offers classic MMO elements such as various classes, guilds, crafting, and trading between players.
What’s happening in January? Broken Ranks is set to celebrate its release in January 2022. However, no exact date has been announced yet. Initially, it will only be released in a standalone client. However, the developers are considering a release on Steam.
Rainbow Six: Extraction
What kind of game is this? Originally Rainbow Six: Quarantine was announced at E3 2019 as a co-op shooter set in the R6 universe. The name has now been changed to Extraction because “quarantine” does not resonate well during the Corona era. The game is based on Rainbow Six Siege, the popular tactical shooter.
In Extraction, an alien parasite has infested the Earth, and players must fight against it in PvE. You can choose from at least 18 different operators, each of whom offers special abilities to help the team.
Overall, Extraction will offer 12 different maps, 13 different mission types, and over 60 customizable weapons.
What’s happening in January? Extraction is also set to release in January. However, there is currently no fixed release date. We’ll have to wait and see if the shooter plays a significant role in January.
