What kind of game is this? Rise is the latest entry in the Monster Hunter series. As usual, you take on the role of a hunter who must face various beasts.
You start as a newbie and hunt smaller monsters. Over time, you improve and can craft new equipment from the materials left behind by the monsters. With this, you can then take on larger challenges.
Also in Rise, you can set out alone or in co-op with friends. You can already play a free demo.

Monster Hunter Rise offers familiar content in a new guise. Highlights include:
- Action-packed and very fun battles
- The various monsters that provide both visual and gameplay variety.
- The different mission types, including the new Rampage quests. In these, you need to place ballistae, cannons, and barrel bombs in a kind of tower defense to stop the horde of attacking monsters.
- The new companions that assist you in your hunt, including the wolf-like Palamute for the first time.

Monster Hunter Rise was first released in 2021 for Nintendo Switch. However, the PC version will be released on January 12. And you can jump right into it.
Rise is aimed at both new players who want to hunt monsters and veterans who are already familiar with the series. The latter will feel at home with the basic gameplay loop of killing, dismembering the monsters, and forging new weapons and equipment from them.
On the Switch, Rise received a metascore of 88 from 122 reviews and a user score of 8.9. The game was overall very well received.
