What is Teamfight Tactics? TFT is an Auto Chess game associated with League of Legends and is continuously expanded by the developer Riot Games. In it, well-known champions from the universe compete against each other on a game board.
You as a player have the task of leveling up these champions, equipping them with items, and positioning them wisely on the field. Additionally, all champions have a origin and at least one class. This creates certain synergies that are very important.

Here are the Highlights of Teamfight Tactics
The game relies on your tactical skill and knowledge of the champions, with a bit of luck involved. Teamfight Tactics offers much for long-term motivation:
- Every 14 days, there is an update that adjusts the balance.
- Every 4-6 months, a completely new set of champions is released, which upends everything learned so far.
- There is a leaderboard and battle passes with their own rewards.
- There is crossplay between PC and smartphone users.
- There is a competitive scene that is still waiting for official tournaments and a spectator mode.
For 2021, a completely new Turbo mode has even been announced.
Why should you play TFT in January?
On September 16, the new Set 4 for TFT was released. This brought completely new champions, origins, and item adjustments. However, this set is now set to be revamped.
On January 21, along with patch 11.2, the so-called set 4.5 will be released. Some champions and origins will be removed and replaced with new ones:
- Champions that have caused a lot of frustration, such as Nami, Ahri, and Jhin, will soon no longer be available
- New origins like Dragonsoul or Faded will be introduced
So for those who haven’t engaged with TFT so far, now is the perfect time to get started. If you already want to start, you can find important tips here:
