In October, 4 new MMOs and online games are being released, which we have included in this list. In addition, there are some major updates, and the hype from New World still carries over into the new month. We at MeinMMO present you the highlights of October.
What kind of games are they? The selected games are online games that you can experience together with friends or unknown players. Each game celebrates its release in September 2021 or receives an update that brings significant innovations.
On the last page, there is also a brief outlook on what else is happening in September. This includes smaller updates, beta events, or releases that will only take place towards the end of the month.
How was this list created? This list is meant to inform you about new releases and updates and was compiled by MMORPG expert Alexander Leitsch. Each game will be presented in more detail throughout the article, and it will be revealed for whom the respective title is worth playing.

New World – Hype after the release

What kind of game is this? In New World you play as a shipwreck survivor who reaches the mysterious island of Aeternum, where Azoth – a mystical material – is located. This material awakens human greed and corrupts them.
On the island, you will encounter wild beasts, the hostile NPC faction called the Corrupted, which has come into contact with Azoth, as well as hostile players that you can fight in optional PvP encounters.
The endgame revolves a lot around dungeons, world events, PvP, and the fight for various territories.
The Highlights of New World
New World was originally a PvP and survival game, but it has increasingly incorporated PvE elements. It now feels like a solid MMORPG for all types of players:
- You can level up a character to level 60, as New World does not rely on classes. Your weapon determines your playstyle.
- From level 10, you can join one of 3 factions and optional fight the others in the open world and in instanced battles for fortresses.
- New World offers 6 different starting dungeons, one of which we have already thoroughly tested.
- There are quests and events in the completely open world.
- There is a very detailed crafting system, through which you can obtain endgame equipment.
- In PvP, there are wars in 50v50 and the Outpost Rush, a mode for 40v40 fortress battles.
Why you should play New World in October
On September 28, New World was released after being delayed multiple times. At launch, New World faced long wait times, but now enough servers have been opened so that you can play right away.
Now is the ideal time to start playing Amazon’s MMO. The game is aimed mainly at fans of action combat systems, explorers, crafters, and PvP players. However, you should not expect a classic hero story, like the one told in GW2, or a tab-targeting combat system like in WoW.
