Crowfall – Release
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: ArtCraft Entertainment | Platform: PC | Release Date: July 6, 2021 | Model: Buy-to-Play
What kind of game is this? Crowfall is a new MMORPG from developer veteran J. Todd Coleman, who has created games like Shadowbane and Wizard 101. Crowfall differs from other games in the genre because it takes a unique and fresh approach:
- Instead of a large and open world, Crowfall focuses on various scenarios where you can be active.
- These campaigns have, except for the Eternal Kingdoms, an expiration date. At the end, hunger awaits, which devours the world and ends the scenario.
The focus of the MMORPG lies on PvP, although there are PvE and social worlds. If you are not into PvP, you will have a hard time in Crowfall.
These are the highlights of Crowfall
The special aspect of Crowfall is its various campaigns:
- The Eternal Kingdoms are a social world that you can create to your liking. You can customize its size, appearance, and even contents like your own fortress and merchants. You can make your Eternal Kingdoms public for everyone to visit or private for just you and invited friends.
- You start in a PvE scenario. There you learn the basics of the game and level your first character.
- In God’s Reach, you fight in a 3-faction PvP against each other.
- In the Dregs, you battle in GvG in massive castle sieges.
- The HungerDome introduced a battle royale for 60 players.
The game also features a wide variety of 12 different races and 11 classes, each with 3 subclasses. Crowfall uses an action combat system that, however, can be a bit clunky in some places.
Why you should play Crowfall in July
Crowfall was released on July 6, 2021, after more than 6 years of development. This came with a wipe of the previous alpha servers, forcing all players to start anew. So, it’s a good time to get into the MMORPG.
Crowfall is a PvP MMORPG. If you enjoy partaking in large-scale battles over castles or wandering through a world where you can be attacked at any time, Crowfall might be a home for you. Especially in a solid guild, you will have a lot of fun in battles against other players.
To get the best gear, crafting plays an important role. However, it can be difficult to acquire these resources in PvP. Therefore, Crowfall is less suitable for solo players.
However, Crowfall also struggles with issues, including poor optimization, a very bad interface, and a weak tutorial.
