What else is happening in April 2021
Overall, April is an interesting month, especially as several betas and previews are taking place on test servers. One of these betas has also just started but is not being well received.
The MMORPG Guild Wars 2 also has its final patch for the current Living World, and CoD Warzone might receive a completely new map. However, these events are happening only at the end of the month.
Guild Wars 2 – The last patch of the Icebrood Saga
What kind of game is this? Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG by the American developer ArenaNet, which places great value on regular updates every 4-8 weeks and casual-friendly content. The game features events and world bosses that you must defeat in the game world with dozens of other players.
In addition, there is a separate main story, dungeons, raids, and fun side challenges like jumping puzzles or map exploration. PvP and stronghold battles in WvW are also appealing to those player groups.
What will happen in April? At the end of April, the finale of the current Living World is scheduled to happen. The Icebrood Saga has been ongoing since September 2019, and its continuous storyline will reach its conclusion this month.
The most exciting part is that the story somehow needs to transition into the upcoming expansion End of Dragons. Although further updates are planned after the current story, it is very likely that with the end of the Icebrood Saga, new information about End of Dragons will also be presented. We will, of course, report on that on MeinMMO.
WoW Classic – The beta for TBC
What kind of game is this? WoW Classic was released in 2019 and aimed to bring back the “vanilla experience.” Nearly 2 years have passed since the release, and the first expansion – The Burning Crusade – is set to be released soon.
What will happen in April? At the end of March, without much announcement, the beta for the expansion started. It will gradually provide new content. At first, players can level their characters up to level 64 and complete quests and content from the appropriate zones. This includes the Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, and the Terokkar Forests.

CoD Cold War & Warzone – New season at the end of April
What kind of game is this? Essentially, it consists of two games – Cold War and Warzone. Both are shooters, with Cold War focusing on the story, zombie mode, and multiplayer maps.
Warzone, on the other hand, focuses primarily on the battle royale component. In it, up to 150 players compete on a massive map while utilizing various firearms and vehicles.
What will happen in April? At the end of April (likely on the 22nd), the new season will start. This could heavily impact Warzone. There is currently speculation that zombies will overrun the Verdansk map, causing a massive explosion.
This could lead to a completely new map for Warzone.
But even if that does not happen, every season brings new weapons, new maps for Cold War, and a new battle pass. So it is worth checking out Call of Duty at the end of April.
Magic: Legends – Beta start, but (still) no recommendation
What kind of game is this? Magic: Legends is an action RPG. Together with up to two friends, you explore large and small game areas, fight monsters with magic and cards, and enhance your hero. You follow an epic story along the way.
The game is aimed at those who want to experience hack-and-slash gameplay in a slightly different way. Here, you are a planeswalker, a wizard who fights using magic. There’s essentially no proper loot; instead, you look for upgrades for your spells and draw your abilities somewhat like in a card deck.
What will happen in April? On March 23, the open beta for Magic: Legends started. Anyone who wants to try out the ARPG can do so. However, this beta has not been well received.
There are technical issues, the entry is reportedly very hard, and the cash shop is receiving heavy criticism. In its current state, we cannot recommend the beta. However, it might be worth keeping an eye on the game, which is why we have included it at the end of this list.
