What kind of game is this? At launch, New World caused a massive hype. There were hours-long queues. However, the game’s popularity quickly waned. Players criticized long leveling phases, monotonous quests, and a lack of endgame.
In June 2022, the largest update to date was released. Amazon Games provided new content and several revisions.
New World takes place in the 17th century on the fictional, supernatural island of Aeternum. The open-world MMORPG lets you forge, gather, and fight. Battles take place in both PvE and PvP. What is particularly noteworthy is the classless real-time combat system.
How does it work without classes? You choose between melee with swords and ranged combat with firearms or spells. In battle, you take on a role but do not have to keep it.
For each weapon, there is a skill tree that you level up. You can specialize in one type of weapon, but you don’t have to. If you choose another weapon, it starts at 0 in the skill tree.
In addition to weapons, armor also plays a role. The weight class affects your agility, while various attributes impact your weapon.
With this system, you can freely decide on your play style. Thus, you can take on the role of tank or healer in dungeons without having to level a new character.
