Destiny, Hearthstone, League of Legends, or World of Warcraft are all well-known brands with a notable publisher and corresponding advertising budget. However, there are also smaller, lesser-known games: the Indie–MMOs. They often lack the means to draw attention to themselves.
Nevertheless, they can still be good games. They deserve to be mentioned, which is why some of them will be introduced in the following text.
Gloria Victis
For the open world PvP game Gloria Victis, the Mount & Blade series seems to have been a model. For example, there is no class system, and the character is therefore fully customizable. The combat system is also more oriented towards regular RPGs, as targets are not automatically targeted. Rather, positioning and attacking at the right time are relevant. Equipment is only a secondary concern.
A complex crafting system is supposed to ensure interaction between players. The production of certain items is based on medieval work methods. A magic system also exists, based on the beliefs of that time. Fireballs are therefore not possible, but blessings or curses are.
Gloria Victis also places great importance on the weather. In addition to a day and night system, seasons exist: hot summer days or cold winters affect agriculture and livestock. Fog and rain influence visibility during combat.
Gloria Victis is currently in the pre-alpha phase, although immediate access can already be purchased for $10. It is set to be free to play at release.
