Mere of Dead Men

Also not a city, but a place of special significance to the Sword Coast, are the Mere of Dead Men. They are a spooky swamp area located between Waterdeep and Neverwinter, near the Sword Coast and the Sea of Swords.
They originated from the fallen kingdom of Uthtower, which was destroyed in a war against dragons. Through magic and curses, the land transformed into a dark, fog-covered moorland teeming with dangers.
Now the Mere of Dead Men serve primarily as a home for spirits, undead, and dragons and are filled with ancient ruins. They are a popular backdrop for dark adventures focused on exploration and survival.
In several D&D campaigns, the Mere appears as an important location, including in the Tyranny-of-Dragons series, where they represent a significant travel route to the hiding place of the dragon cult, as well as in Storm King’s Thunder.
These were 5 of the most important places on the Sword Coast. Did you know all of them, and have you perhaps visited some of them during your adventures?
In addition to important places, there are also many significant personalities in the Forgotten Realms that you may encounter. For example, Volothamp Geddarm has also gained attention again through Baldur’s Gate 3: Volo appears to be a braggart in Baldur’s Gate 3, but he is a truly important character in D&D
