The pure weapon skills often aren’t enough to secure a victory in Call of Duty: Warzone. The right weapons, smart tactics, and a keen eye for flanks are also important – just like a deep understanding of the mechanics of the game. MeinMMO explains 5 small mechanics that can sometimes be incredibly helpful.
The battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone is a hardcore shooter where no one shows mercy. Everyone wants to win, and any means are justified to achieve that. But to really use “all means,” you first need to know them very well. Often, there’s more to a game mechanic than meets the eye.
That’s why MeinMMO takes a deeper look at some mechanics in the game and explains how you can save yourself in certain situations even when things look bleak. Most of the tricks come from the interesting YouTube video series “Warzone Mythbusters” from the channel “DefendThe House” (Link to the playlist via YouTube).
1. Tricks for Reviving
In Warzone, you can revive team-mates – nothing new here. However, there are a few tricks during reviving that can help you in tight situations:
- If a dying teammate falls onto another player from a great height, the fall of the downed player is halted, and fall damage is avoided.
- You can “push” downed players with vehicles, getting them out of danger.
- If you jump over a downed teammate and press and hold the revive button in mid-air, reviving will start on the ground – even if you are further away.
The mechanics allow you to reduce the risk of reviving in certain situations or even make a revive possible at all. However, it also requires some practice to reliably execute certain actions, especially when you want to drop onto a teammate in downed status. The trajectory is calculable, but not necessarily logical.
The jump revive is interesting when a team member goes down in front of a cliff. Jump across, hold the revive button, and complete the revival after you land. You can even open the parachute to land safely as long as you keep the button pressed.

2. Taking Down Helicopters with Recon Drone
An enemy helicopter can be really annoying, especially at the start of a round when there isn’t a powerful weapon or a rocket launcher at hand. However, if you have already found the field upgrade “Recon Drone,” that might be enough.
Attacking helicopters can be destroyed with the guided drone. Hide a little, activate the drone, and fly toward the enemy aircraft. The opponent explodes without warning. However, make sure the heli flies into you and is in motion. If you fly your drone into a helicopter that is hardly moving in the air, only the drone will be destroyed.

3. Quick Landing from Great Heights
During landing, speed is often crucial. At the match start, early ground contact is important to gain an advantage over other players landing in the same area. However, later in the round, you should quickly seek the way back to the ground since snipers everywhere are waiting for easy parachute victims.
If you need to land very quickly, you can even do so without a parachute:
- Ladders can slow your fall if you land correctly on them.
- You can get into vehicles directly from the air.
- At the bottom of ziplines, you can start pulling up from the air.
All methods require good timing and precision. Practice quick landings in the plunder mode or keep the possibility in mind for tight situations. The bravest can also use satellite dishes to land.
4. Ammo and Armor Boxes as Explosive Devices
The boxes are not just helpful supply providers, but also excellent anti-personnel mines. If you shoot at them, they explode with significant damage, surprising your opponent and possibly giving you a last chance in a hopeless fight.
If you only have a pistol in hand, the boxes are especially valuable. Flee around a corner from an enemy, place the box a little away from you, and blow it up as soon as the opponent turns the corner. Even if the attacker doesn’t go down immediately, you can finish the job with a few shots.
The boxes also produce significant ambient damage. If multiple enemies are chasing you, and they can’t decide who gets the kill, then all opponents take damage from the box – and you claim the kills.
5. Countering Executions
Another interesting mechanic is throwing knives as a counter against executions. In an execution, an opponent must stand very close behind you and can then perform a special melee attack. Although this often takes longer than normal melee kills, the victim cannot defend themselves.
With a good dose of luck, you can prevent the enemy from executing you. If you hold a throwing knife ready in your hand while the opponent starts the execution, you can eliminate your attacker instead. During many execution moves, the opponent will turn around, and you will briefly look at each other. If you let go of the throwing knife then, it will hit the enemy instead of you.
If you notice at the last moment that an enemy is approaching, pull out your throwing knife and counter the execution. However, there are also executions where this won’t work. It depends on your position relative to the opponent. Generally, it is possible, though.
