What is Death Note about? Death Note is about the model student Light Yagami, who is looking at a glorious future with the police. One day, however, he comes into possession of a “Death Note” – a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. Light’s sense of justice quickly changes, and he begins to kill criminals one by one to create a perfect world.
It doesn’t take long for various intelligence services to notice these strange murders. A cat-and-mouse game begins between Light and his pursuers.
Light receives help early on from the owner of a second Death Note – Amane Misa.
What makes Misa Amane a Yandere? “A Yandere would kill for you” – and that is exactly the definition of Misa Amane. For her beloved Light, she commits his murders and even draws suspicion to herself to save him. Although she is not as intelligent as Yagami, she proves to be quite clever in terms of manipulation.
Spoiler: This is what happens next with Misa Amane
She is even willing to (repeatedly) halve her own remaining lifespan by making a pact with the Shinigami to better help Yagami. For Misa Amane, her own life is just a resource to eventually be rewarded with Light’s attention and a little love.
From the supplementary story “Death Note – How To Read,” we know that Misa Amane took her own life after the death of Light. For Yandere, this is often the highest form of proof of love.
Shion Sonozaki – Higurashi: When They Cry

What is Higurashi: When They Cry about? Higurashi is a very complex story set in the fictional village of Hinamizawa. Strange murders happen here every few years, and the villagers seem to be afflicted by a curse that leads them to commit bizarre acts. The story repeats multiple times, taking different trajectories each time, bringing different characters into focus.
At the center of this story are the children of the 3 major families of the village – Sonozaki, Kimiyoshi, and Furude – as well as the boy Keiichi Maebara, from whose perspective much of the plot unfolds. He quickly becomes friends with Shion Sonozaki – one of the daughters of the great families.
What makes Shion Sonozaki a Yandere? The image of the blood-smeared, smiling Shion is for many the epitome of a crazy Yandere. Shion has exactly one life goal – revenge for her beloved Satoshi, who was driven to madness.

Because Shion believes that Satoshi’s sister, Satoko, is responsible for the boy’s suffering, she attacks Satoko and tortures her with medieval methods. When Satoshi disappears, the last part of Shion’s psyche collapses, and she embarks on a bloody path where friends, family, and even her own twin sister are tortured and murdered.
Kotonoha Katsura – School Days

What is School Days about? School Days is about Makoto Ito, who secretly takes a photo of his classmate Kotonoha Katsura and saves it as his phone’s wallpaper. In class, he is confronted by his seatmate Sekai Saionji, who asks him about this and he confesses that he has feelings for Kotonoha.
Sekai then sets herself the goal of bringing the two together – which ultimately succeeds. But Sekai realizes all too late that she has developed feelings for Makoto herself.
For his part, Makoto seems to be having his “lucky streak” and, shortly thereafter, appears to have little interest in his girlfriend. He changes partners constantly and breaks hearts just as quickly – which ultimately leads to deadly jealousy.
What makes Kotonoha Katsura a Yandere? Kotonoha is cute, intelligent, and polite at least at the beginning of the series. She lives quite withdrawn and has no friends until she comes into contact with Makoto and Sekai.
After Sekai stops taking the relationship with her seriously and has fun with other girls, Kotonoha begins to change.
Spoiler: This is what happens next with Kotonoha Katsura
When Sekai kills Makoto out of jealousy, Kotonoha finds Makoto’s body. She decapitates him and takes his head in a bag to confront Sekai. Afterwards, she kills Sekai out of revenge – and even disembowels her to ensure that she is not carrying Makoto’s child.
In the final scene, Kotonoha is seen lying on a boat, holding Makoto’s head tightly against her – with a satisfied smile.
