What kind of game is this? If you have no time or opportunity to go on vacation, you can at least enjoy a digital holiday in A Short Hike. You play as Claire, a mix of human and bird, who is on vacation. At first, you are at the beach, but when Claire searches for mobile reception, she decides to climb to the top of a mountain.
Along the way, she meets numerous NPCs who have various concerns. Sometimes they have lost something and ask Claire to bring it back, other times they challenge her to a race. Essential for the ascent are the golden feathers that you find in the game world and receive by completing side quests.
Only with these can you succeed in the relaxed and completely stress-free climbing trip. A Short Hike invites you to take a deep breath and enchants with its pixel art style and music. Remarkably, the game was created by a single developer.
Inside
Genre: Adventure/ Jump ’n’ Run | Developer: Playdead | Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, iOS, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch| Release: June 29, 2016
What kind of game is this? The developers of the acclaimed Limbo have created another great game with Inside. Again, you play as a small boy running from left to right through a darkly designed sci-fi world. While fleeing from nasty robots and guards, you encounter people who seem to be remote-controlled. If you get caught, it ends quickly and can be very brutal.
The puzzles require skill and logical thinking, with physical gameplay mechanics taking a significant role again. The game offers more variety compared to its predecessor, such as stealth passages.
Inside wants you to think along; the story and its ending won’t be served to you on a silver platter. After just over three hours, the atmospheric adventure is over again. The trip into the gray, colorless world was worth it and will especially provide a thrilling evening for fans of Limbo.
These were our five games that can be completed in an evening. Which of them have you played? Do you have any tips yourself? Feel free to write it to us in the comments.
