4. Dauntless
If you don’t want to spend any money, you might find Dauntless appealing. Here you hunt monsters in a fantasy setting and cel-shading graphics in small open areas. There are also multiple weapons and equipment that you improve and craft through missions and acquired resources.
Due to the graphics, the monster designs differ significantly from those in Monster Hunter and offer you an interesting, though relatively small, variation of opponents. The weapons are nothing special, but with Exotics, there are certain types that change the gameplay.
If you want to try it out, you should hurry, as the studio behind Dauntless is currently not doing so well: A great MMO wanted to be like Monster Hunter World: Now the studio is facing closure.
Dauntless is available on Epic, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series and One.
5. Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Even more anime and even more classic fantasy is offered by Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Here you have not only different weapons but also various characters with their own personalities who can use a certain set of weapons. The monsters are classically fantasy, ranging from goblins to dragons.
Anyone looking for a linear experience will find it here. Additionally, there is a classic division of classes: healers, tanks, and DPS. Nevertheless, each character offers several customization options in the form of talent trees and equipment.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink is available on Steam, PlayStation 4, and 5.
