Eternium
What kind of game is this? Eternium is a hack and slash game with somewhat more colorful, comic-like graphics, released in 2014. It was originally released for Android and iOS, but now also offers a PC version on Steam.
The focus is on grinding and collecting loot. You choose from one of three classes – Mage, Warrior, or Mercenary. Each of these classes offers around 20 abilities. With your character, you can explore the game world, run dungeons, and even participate in PvP content. There is a max level and then champion levels, of which you can achieve endless amounts.
The special feature of the game is the control scheme. For many action attacks or spells, you have to trace certain shapes, such as a Z or V on the screen. You also use the healing potion by drawing the “less than” sign. This gives Eternium a unique flair on mobile devices.
The hack and slash advertises that it is free-to-play and does not offer pay-to-win in the shop. Many reviews confirm this. However, there are said to be payment options that allow you to bypass timers, such as when upgrading skills. This requires waiting times of up to 48 hours in Eternium.
How is it rated?
- In the Play Store, Eternium achieves an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars. A total of 2.5 million ratings have been given.
- In the App Store, it also has 4.8 stars, although here only just over 7,000 ratings have been submitted.
- The PC version, released in October 2021, receives 81% positive reviews on Steam. Criticism here is directed at waiting times for upgrades, weak graphics, the mobile feeling, and issues in PvP, which are supposedly non-existent in the mobile version.
Eternium allows you to play offline in single-player mode, but an internet connection is required for multiplayer and PvP.
Titan Quest: Legendary Edition
What kind of game is this? Titan Quest is a well-known game series that you can also play on Android and iOS in the Legendary Edition. It takes place in the world of Greek mythology, which significantly departs from the setting in Diablo Immortal. However, the story has received a lot of praise in the reviews.
You do not choose a specific class with your character but have access to two skill trees. You can combine these as you like or focus on just one. Otherwise, Titan Quest offers the usual content of an action RPG, including looting, leveling up, and upgrading equipment.
However, it completely forgoes a shop and microtransactions. In return, you must pay a one-time fee of 19.99 euros to access the Legendary Edition, including all DLCs, skills, and areas.
Criticism is directed at the fact that looting and inventory management are said to be somewhat cumbersome on mobile devices, which seems a bit bizarre, as this is a core element of the game. Additionally, there are reports of FPS drops on weaker devices or in certain locations.

- In the Play Store, Titan Quest receives a rating of 4.3 stars, with only 2,550 ratings.
- In the App Store, it also scores 4.3 stars with 41 ratings.
Titan Quest can be played completely offline on a smartphone.
Raziel: Dungeon Arena
What kind of game is this? Raziel was released on September 22, 2020 and was already considered a precursor to Diablo Immortal. The 5 classes in the game are very similar to those in Diablo Immortal, and there are many gameplay similarities as well.
There is a story campaign that you can complete entirely in single-player mode. Afterwards, you can complete dungeons in co-op with friends or strangers or even finish large raids. The classes are said to complement each other perfectly, enabling unique combos and strategies.
Raziel is said to offer many mechanics, level-ups, and a lot of variance in equipment; however, it poorly explains these contents in the tutorial.
Criticism is also directed at the fact that in the end game, diamonds for upgrades are required, which can also be purchased, as well as the language, since there is no German localization.

- In the Play Store, Raziel: Dungeon Arena has received 4.4 out of 5 stars so far. Overall, there have been nearly 55,000 reviews.
- In the App Store, it received 1,000 ratings, averaging 4.6 stars.

Blade Bound
What kind of game is this? Bladebound is a classic hack and slash that offers no special innovations. The graphics are rather weak despite the light cartoon style, and the story does not set any major standards either. Nevertheless, it is rated very positively.
You initially choose a character, with no fixed classes available. Instead, you can assemble your own playstyle from dozens of skills.
In the endgame, you can choose from various activities in a menu, including dungeons, boss arenas, monster hunts, PvP, or story content. There are also event dungeons that are only available at certain times.
Criticism is directed at the shop, which according to some reviews allegedly becomes mandatory in the endgame – for example, to repurchase energy for specific content. Additionally, there are loot boxes to obtain strong equipment. The auto-grind mode is also not liked by everyone.
How is it rated?
- In the Play Store, Blade Bound receives 4.5 stars based on 106,000 ratings.
- In the App Store, it even has 4.6 stars, although only 499 ratings have been made.
Blade Bound requires a constant internet connection.
Grimvalor
What kind of game is this? Grimvalor differs significantly from Diablo Immortal but is regarded in ARPG circles as one of the best games, which is why we wanted to include it in this list. You play a character in a platformer where you can run left and right, jump, or dodge.
You explore various areas with your character and fight opponents to obtain better loot and equipment. You follow a story. Once completed, it offers New Game+, which allows you to replay the game with the experience you gained.
Grimvalor is free and also does not offer a shop. However, you frequently see ads. For a one-time fee of 6.99 euros, you can permanently disable the ads.
How is it rated?
- In the Play Store, Grimvalor achieves a rating of 4.6 stars based on 77,052 reviews.
- In the App Store, it even has 4.8 stars, but with only 822 ratings.

Honorable Mention: Path of Exile Mobile
What kind of game is this? Path of Exile announced a mobile version in 2019. The game is being developed internally by Grinding Gear Games and is said to contain “no bullshit”. Essentially, it is supposed to be like Path of Exile, but for Android and iOS.
However, there has been little news about the game for a long time. It is currently unclear when Path of Exile Mobile will be released. However, once the version is out, it will be a hot candidate for this list.
