Pet Battle Dungeons
Pet battles are a topic that has long split the World of Warcraft community into two camps. While some players immerse themselves fully in this side activity, spending all day gathering and training new pets, others view this content as “Pokemon for the poor” and ignore it.
Pet battles were also a passion project for some developers who continually added new features and functions. A king’s discipline in pet battles were the so-called “Pet Battle Dungeons.” This started in Mists of Pandaria on the Timeless Isle and was later expanded further. The well-known WoW dungeons received an additional pet battle variant.
Here, not only did some of the hardest boss fights await, but also new storylines that came together into a larger whole.
There were even special rewards that were truly useful. Those who had unlocked the Pet Battle Dungeons gained access to new portals, allowing them to teleport across much of the world. A small bonus to reach the dungeons faster while also being more mobile.
However, there have been no new contents since December 2019. Though pet battles in the outside world can still be found, no new Pet Battle Dungeons have been introduced since then.
Currently, pet battles as a whole are in jeopardy, as Blizzard has announced that interest in the feature has declined. Therefore, many are worried that the time for collecting and battling pets may soon come to an end.
