Eventually, every successful footballer career must come to an end, whether voluntarily or due to injuries. Here we show you 7 football stars from FIFA 23 who will not be on the field next season and thus will not appear in the FIFA successor EA Sports FC.
There are football players who seemingly never want to stop playing professionally. The legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon (45) is currently still playing in the 2nd Italian league and just narrowly missed out on promotion with his youth club, FC Parma.
And the eternal Japanese King Kazu is still playing in the 2nd division of Portugal at the amazing age of 56 and is indeed represented in FIFA 23.
However, many football stars choose to retire much earlier. Here we show you 5 famous players who will be missing in the FIFA successor EA Sports FC.

FIFA 24 is called EA Sports FC – Everything we know about the release, leagues, logo, and content
Gareth Bale
The Welshman, who has spent his recent years preferring to play golf instead of football for Real Madrid, has probably won everything there is to win in his impressive club career. He is a seven-time footballer of the year in Wales, footballer of the year in England, has 3 Spanish league titles, and an incredible 5 Champions League titles.
Now Gareth Bale has ended his career at the age of 33 and on this occasion EA has given him a very strong End-of-Era card.
Mesut Özil
The 2014 World Champion had a brilliant career that ended slightly less well. Özil particularly shined during his time at Real Madrid, where he set up as many goals for Cristiano Ronaldo in 3 years as no other player.
Subsequently, he moved to Arsenal FC, and there too he had an outstanding start and was able to win the English Cup 4 times and score numerous goals himself.
However, now, after his career somewhat faded in Turkey, Özil is ending his career at the age of 34 and will not receive another card in EA Sports FC for now. His last card is a 93 End-of-Era card with very strong attributes.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
In tears, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (41) announced the end of his long career during the last game of AC Milan. He can look back on an impressive career that started in Malmö and took him across half of Europe as well as to the MLS. He has scored a total of 496 goals in 827 games and assisted another 206 goals.
Fans are hoping for a fierce Ibrahimovic card to commemorate his farewell, which currently does not exist:
Ibrahimović bids farewell in tears and fans demand a card that no one can afford
Gerard Piqué
The legendary defender from FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team can look back on a long and exceedingly successful career that took place almost exclusively at the club level with Barcelona. Piqué became a world and European champion, was crowned Spanish champion eight times, Spanish cup winner seven times, and won the Champions League three times.
However, Piqué has been in retirement since November 2022. Nevertheless, he still had cards in FIFA 23, including a really strong Rulebreakers card, which was very popular for a long time.
Jonas Hector
The former German international spent his entire professional career at 1. FC Köln and remained loyal even during the relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. He helped with the promotion in 2019 and has been continuously playing for the Geißböcke ever since. Now the 33-year-old has hung up his football boots and will probably not be playable in EA Sports FC anymore.
A card for the left-back will probably be in vain in EA Sports FC. However, you can still get his strong End-of-Era card in FUT 23.
In the long run, it is certainly possible that some of these players might return again – as an Icon or Hero card. What do you think? Which card should receive a Hero or Icon card? Feel free to tell us in the comments!
