In Destiny 2 will see many changes to weapons soon. An update will not only change the function of some weapons but also restore old Exotics to desirable glory. We will show you which guns you should secure before Season 17.
What will change? Bungie shared a lot of insight about upcoming changes in the sandbox area in their last TWaB on April 22. There was talk of adjustments for various weapon types such as shotguns, SMGs, and more, as well as the introduction of a new invisible weapon characteristic.
Many Exotics will benefit from the upcoming changes. Therefore, we recommend these five examples of rare Exotics, so you’ll be well-equipped at the start of Season 17.
5 weapons you should acquire before Season 17
These five weapons are guns that Bungie would like to upgrade. We will show you what these weapons are, what they can do, and what exactly will be adjusted. Here are the firearms:
- Skyburner’s Oath
- Wave Splitter
- Xenophage
- Leviathan’s Breath
- Point of Concurrence
The changes are expected to take effect over time, by no later than the start of Season 17. We will let you know the exact timing of this.
Skyburner’s Oath
What kind of weapon is this? It is an old Cabal scout rifle that fires fully automatic Solar rounds. These rounds explode and track their targets when fired from the hip.
If you aim, these rounds fly straight with slight homing and hit your opponents with a harder impact. However, this weapon sees little use outside of the hard strike “The Devil’s Lair”.
What will be adjusted on the weapon? The scout rifle will be completely revamped and will soon shine with the following changes:
- Rounds will no longer explode when fired from the hip but will ignite targets instead
- The weapon will have the best “Airborne Effectiveness” in the game – 35 points
- The catalyst will increase reload speed instead of range
If Solar 3.0 takes place as in the major leak in Season 17, this Exotic will be a good weapon for burns. So grab the weapon, complete its catalyst, and get ready.
Wave Splitter
What kind of weapon is this? This Void wave beam rifle is part of the three elemental wave beam rifles in Destiny 2. With the Wave Splitter, you can fire a Void beam at your enemies, randomly changing its strength. If you pick up an Empowering Rift, you will be granted maximum Power for a short duration, starting with an automatic reload.
What will be adjusted on the weapon? The wave beam rifle will now receive some changes as follows:
- The medium beam strength will be increased
- The duration of the overcharged battery will be extended when you pick up an Empowering Rift
- If “Overcharged Battery” is active and you pick up an Empowering Rift, you will receive a suppression effect on your subsequent shots.
Since Void 3.0 synergizes well with various weapons, Wave Splitter would make a great build weapon once the adjustments are activated.
Xenophage
What kind of weapon is this? This is the slowly firing Exotic MG “Xenophage”. This MG fires explosive Solar ammunition that severely affects bosses. Bungie however nerfed the fire rate, which led to very few players wanting to use it.
What will be adjusted on the weapon? Bungie recognized that the nerf was the death of the MG, so they wanted to restore the weapon to its former glory and are therefore bringing back its old stats for fire rate and damage.
This will once again give players the opportunity to kick bosses into the void. With the upcoming change, the weapon’s time-to-kill will change again and catapult it back to its old place. So if you are looking for a good weapon for DPS, Xeno will be your loyal companion again and you will probably encounter it more often in Gambit, in the hands of invaders.
Leviathan’s Breath
What kind of weapon is this? This is the extinct heavy bow “Leviathan’s Breath”. This bow has not only an explosive arrow but also the ability to halt Unstoppable Champions. However, this was not enough to make the weapon popular, and thus the bow was sent back to Banshee for some adjustments.
What will be adjusted on the weapon? Many players complained that the weapon’s catalyst did not reduce the draw time of the arrow. However, Bungie will change this with upcoming updates, as players will be able to fire their destructive arrows faster with a completed catalyst.
Additionally, damage will be increased by 50%, greatly benefiting the weapon’s DPS. To also help with stopping Champions, the explosion will be delayed so that the stopping effect can function.
If you are looking for an extravagant option for boss DPS, this powerful bow could be your companion.
Point of Concurrence
What kind of weapon is this? The exotic glaives were a disappointment for many players when they could be obtained. They were even weaker than their legendary variants. Bungie did not want this to stand and took some preparations to ensure that the Exotic glaives can shine again.
Especially the Exotic Hunter glaive was barely able to score. Its Arc energy wave, which can kill and chain enemies, was not powerful enough and even completely depleted the weapon’s shield. This will finally change in Season 17.
What will be adjusted on the weapon? All exotic glaives will receive an overhaul, but the Hunter glaive will finally be able to perform its tasks better and more efficiently:
- The damage of the ground waves increases threefold
- Instead of four, eight enemies will be chained when struck by the Arc wave
This definitely makes the weapon more deserving of its Exotic status, and perhaps more Hunters will dare to equip it.
