If you’re less about relaxation and already have enough peace in your home environment, you might reach for an old adrenaline classic. The zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2 is still a fantastic co-op experience even after 10 years.
What is Left 4 Dead 2 about? In the world of Left 4 Dead, the zombie apocalypse has broken out, just as we know from countless films and comics. Hordes of the undead rampage through the streets, attracted by the slightest noise from the few survivors.
The survivors, on the other hand, try to make their way through very different maps. They have to get from one secured room to another in large cities or fight through a swamp. The journey through an abandoned amusement park is especially creepy.
But standard zombies are not the only problem in Left 4 Dead 2. Some zombies are mutated and have gained new abilities that create strong differences. These “special infected” have all sorts of nasty tricks up their sleeves and are also the main reason why you need to play in a team to survive. If you’ve been caught by a smoker’s tongue or a charger’s massive fist, you can’t free yourself and rely on your teammates.
If you’ve had enough of fighting against NPC hordes for a while, you can also dare to venture into the PvP mode. There, teams take turns playing as survivors and special infected. Especially with 8 players, it’s a huge fun to coordinate an awesome zombie attack with some friends to feast on the rest of the clique.
Once you’ve completed the official campaigns, you can also download a whole range of mods and player-created maps to bring fresh wind into the game. Because over the many years, the community has come up with many ideas to continue having fun with this timeless shooter.
And who knows: If some conspiracy theories about the current world situation are true, this game might just prepare you for the impending apocalypse.
