What kind of game is Satisfactory? In the automation simulation, it’s all about resource management and building your own mega-factory. You start with just a small tool in hand and gradually create huge, interconnected production lines to shape the resources of the alien planet to your desires.
The motivation of the game is the mental challenge of keeping track of the hustle and bustle. It can be very “satisfying” to see the factory grow and new products racing through the often unrecognizable world on miles of conveyor belts. You discover new technologies that allow for new production lines and increase both game progress and the need for optimization.
The appealing graphics are enjoyable, and the planets even invite you to explore. You can work on your factory with up to 3 friends, but Satisfactory also lives up to its name solo.

For whom is Satisfactory exciting? If building or automation games are among your favorites, you should check out Satisfactory. You get comprehensive mechanics for an exciting factory adventure that demands your full attention to find viable solutions for your production setup. You can even puzzle over it with up to 3 friends.
If you prefer action-packed gameplay, Satisfactory offers little for you. Exploring the planets and breathtaking rides with the hyperloops might be the most exciting “challenges”. Satisfactory aims to challenge you more than entertain – but also offers some refreshing gameplay elements that will keep you engaged for a while. Mainly, it’s about expanding and constantly improving your own factory.
How much time can you invest? If you enjoy the gameplay, Satisfactory can keep you busy for dozens or even hundreds of hours. The developers state on Steam that it takes around 150 hours to build everything and reach the last tech level in solo mode. Once you are trapped in the gameplay loop, it’s all about the next production site and optimizing an old one that no longer runs efficiently. Best to rebuild it right away. Or start a new save file right away…?
How do the ratings look? The game is rated “Very Positive” on Steam, with 97% of the 43,403 reviews giving the title a thumbs up (As of March 21, 2021).
What will happen next with Satisfactory? The factory sim is close to the big “Update 4,” which brings transport drones and new resources into the game. Regarding the current update 3, the developers state on Steam that the state of the game offers a good “foundation” but is still far from finished. Later on, Satisfactory is expected to get a complete story and mod support. The developers believe it’s likely that the price will increase at full release, but they do not want to make any firm commitments.
