Raft – A raft adventure with story

What kind of game is Raft? The raft game combines survival gameplay with the vastness of the sea. You start on a small raft with a hook in hand that helps you collect debris. What is trash to others provides the base of resources for your ship, which is your base in Raft.
You have to take care of water and food, constantly expand your raft, and over time discover a story thread that sends you on an adventure in the maritime world that consists mostly of water.
During your sailing trip, you’ll keep visiting islands to secure materials you can’t find on the open sea. The story leads you to special places where you solve quests and puzzles. Each quest island also brings new equipment, expanding your gameplay.
You can play everything in co-op and bring many friends along. However, performance decreases with more players, and we recommend going on the adventure with a maximum of four. If you have a strong PC, you can try more players, but Raft can also be played solo, although it can be a lot to do on your own.

For whom is Raft exciting? Raft is a well-thought-out survival game with cute and fitting graphics. Fans of the survival genre are treated to a lovely adventure, with an interesting base-building concept and coherent gameplay elements. If you find the high-seas setting interesting, Raft is definitely worth a try. PvP is currently not an option, though.
If you’re looking for coop games with a story and a fixed ending, Raft can also meet your needs. Currently, there are 5 quest islands that tell a story while you progressively build up your raft and gear. The work/resource balance is also very pleasant and motivating, making it a good game to get into the survival genre.
How much time can you invest? With the end of the story, Raft is more or less over. If you expect more from a survival game and don’t want an abrupt ending, Raft in Early Access is currently not the title for you. You can easily spend 30 hours in the game right now. If you still want to expand your raft after the story, the fun building system provides a good foundation for more hours of enjoyment.
How do the ratings look? The game is rated “Very Positive” on Steam, with 92% of the 92,184 reviews giving the title a thumbs up. (As of March 21, 2021)
What will happen next with Raft? Raft is developed by an 8-man team that has been communicating a lot with its players since the “Chapter 2” update in autumn 2020. Currently, they are working on “Chapter 3,” for which there is still no fixed date. In an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on the Def Blog from November ’20 (via Steam), the developers provided a preview of upcoming content:
- Chapter 3 will bring at least 2 new quest islands
- Jellyfish and angler fish as new underwater creatures
- New biomes for regular islands
- More deep-sea content
- New and revised cooking recipes
- More devices for automation
- Smaller events for holidays
With Raft, you can experience the loneliness of the sea together. On page 4 awaits a game that you surely don’t want to play in isolation. The horror simulation Phasmophobia sends you on an authentic ghost hunt and can even be played with VR – goosebumps included.
