What is it about? Hanabi is in love with her neighbor, Narumi, her childhood friend. But she notices that the guy she has a crush on, her class teacher, Narumi, is in love with someone else: the new music teacher, Akane. Hanabi then meets Mugi, another student who is in love with the new music teacher.
Hanabi and Mugi enter a fake relationship to provide each other comfort and fulfill their needs. They agree not to fall in love with each other and to end the relationship as soon as their respective crushes fall in love with them.
Why are you spared from happy couples? The relationship between Hanabi and Mugi can be considered a friends-with-benefits situation. They provide each other with the romance and intimacy they need. And they do that without stressing about any rules in the relationship.
The happy relationship they portray outwardly is just a façade. Because both long for their true love, which seems out of reach for now.
