Yo-kai Watch has built a complete franchise similar to Pokémon and Digimon. The newest video game installment in the series, Yo-Kai Watch 4, is currently only available in Japan, but the first three parts are also available in the West. Here, the focus is primarily on collecting the different monsters.
What is it about? In the world of Nate Adams, people sometimes behave strangely: they become chatty, suddenly become very hungry, or suffer from flatulence. The reason for this is the yokai, which imbue people with their own characteristics.
Nate Adams finds a capsule machine from which he pulls the spirit Whisper. He equips the boy with a wristwatch with which he can tame and summon the yokai. The story is not particularly deep here, as the anime is aimed more at a younger audience. If you can’t relate to the series, the video games of the same name might be more to your liking.
