Fifty years ago, terrible creatures known as “enemies of mankind” appeared. To combat them, gifted teenagers with special powers, called “talents”, were sent out. These children are supposed to train their skills and therefore live on a secluded island with the blessing of the governments in a special school.
Nanao Nakajiima, who seemingly has no talent, is also part of this school – and must find her way as “Talentless Nana” to earn a place among her classmates. However, two other students join a bit later – the mysterious Kyouya Onodera and the mind reader Nana Hiiragi.

The first episode ends with a protagonist switch. Not the supposedly “talentless” Nanao Nakajima is the protagonist, but Nana Hiiragi. Hiiragi kills Nakajima and hides his body. She has a mission: to kill the students with abilities one by one without drawing attention. Because she has no special gift, only the knowledge and experience of her training to eliminate the dangerous prodigies.
Talentless Nana is a murder-mystery series from the perspective of the perpetrator, who tries to conceal her actions and has to earn the trust of the victims beforehand.

Ai Hoshino is an idol – a rather extraordinary one. As the star of the band “B Komachi”, she attracts fans and enchants audiences like no other idol before her. However, when she turns 16, she conceals an important detail from the public: She has already become a mother of twins. Ai tries to fulfill both dreams at once: living as a successful idol and as a caring mother. Along the way, there are always surprisingly dark and realistic insights into the world of showbiz.
But her twins are also something special: They are reincarnated people. The once cancer-stricken Sarina and the doctor who treated Ai, who was murdered before her children were born, are both reborn in the form of the twins.

The first episode ends with the death of Ai Hoshino, who is killed by her stalker. The young lives of Aqua and Ruby are then turned upside down. While Ruby recovers from her mother’s death after a while, Aqua vows revenge. It is clear to him that only the biological father could have revealed Ai’s address to the stalker. He plans to break into the entertainment industry as soon as he is grown up and find his father to kill him painfully.
Despite the rather crazy theme of “reincarnation as a star’s child,” Oshi no Ko is refreshingly honest, dark, and surprisingly realistic in the portrayal of its lovable characters.

The once cheerful, colorful world of the Abyss quickly becomes darker and more brutal with the children’s descent. Psychological and physical cruelties are the order of the day, and some very disturbing, gripping scenes will remain in memory for a long time. Made in Abyss is definitely not for kids, and the once fantastic, colorful art style only contributes to the lingering brutality of the displayed images.
