The rather average Saitama has a hobby: He wants to be a hero. In the attempt to finally shape his childhood dream, he exhausts himself completely for several years. He trains so hard that he even loses all his hair. But this seemingly immeasurable sacrifice comes with another advantage: Saitama has become so strong that absolutely every enemy is defeated with just one punch.
The cyborg Genos is so overwhelmed by Saitama’s powers that he wants to train under him – and simply can’t believe that the training only consisted of a little jogging and push-ups.
Why is One Punch Man like Dragon Ball? One Punch Man is only distantly related to Dragon Ball and is more of a parody of typical shounen anime. The protagonist is so overwhelmingly powerful that basically every fight is decided in advance, and you’re just waiting for Saitama to stretch out his hand. Nevertheless, the series does not get boring and can entertain with clever humor and interesting characters, even if the outcomes of the battles are obvious.

Over the years, more and more superpowers have emerged. Gradually, a large part of humanity has gained these powers – from minor, useless abilities to true powers of real superheroes, everything is included. But even though 80% of humanity has such powers – nearly 20% have not yet received any.
So too with Izuku, who wishes for nothing more than to finally become a superhero. His dream comes within reach when he comes into contact with his personal idol “All Might” – who wants to pass his powers on to him.
After months of training, Izuku now enrolls in the Hero Academy, where he comes into contact with many other promising newcomers. They are necessary because an organization full of criminals is on the rise…
Why is My Hero Academia like Dragon Ball? The greatest parallels between Dragon Ball and My Hero Academia can probably be found in the diverse, interesting characters. The series takes its time to highlight the various individuals, and everyone gets their moment to show that their superpowers are simply optimal in certain situations.

Stream available on: Crunchyroll
After his father’s death, Tanjiro takes care of his family. One day, when he returns from errands in the village, a nightmare becomes reality: his family has been murdered and only his sister survives, severely injured. But it gets worse: as she was attacked by a demon, she begins to transform into one herself.
In hopes of somehow saving his sister and avenging his family, Tanjiro sets off and joins the “Demon Slayer Corps” – a training begins that requires him to leave his old life behind.
Why is Demon Slayer like Dragon Ball? Demon Slayer relies on brutal and extremely elaborately animated battles. It is no wonder that the series is often regarded as a modern evolution of the typical shounen anime. Despite a captivating story and exciting battles, the characters do not fall short either. Even though the third season has weakened a bit story-wise, the series as a whole is still a masterpiece.
