Watto
Watto is a junk dealer from the planet Tatooine who kept Anakin and his mother as slaves. Only through the intervention of Qui-Gon Jinn do they become free.
Watto is quite an unpleasant character, but he only seems intimidating at first glance. When you take a closer look, he’s a grumbling, babbling grouch who doesn’t possess much beyond business acumen. Yes, he may be resistant to Qui-Gon Jinn’s Jedi mind tricks, but that feels more like a forced plot device than believable.
Since Watto belongs to the race of the Toydarians, he has somewhat pathetic wings with which he hovers a little above the ground. His body structure makes him appear sluggish and flabby. Watto would love to be a nasty mastermind, but he truly cannot be taken seriously.
