Max Rebo & Sy Snootles
This double placement features two particularly ridiculous aliens. Both are associated with Jabba, as they play together in the Max Rebo Band in the gangster boss’s palace.
Max Rebo is an Ortolan. These are blue beings that somewhat resemble elephants. His design is simple and resembles a toy, similar to the Ewoks.
The large button-like eyes appear vacant, and it doesn’t look like the figure is capable of any intelligent thought. Max Rebo plays the instrument Nalargon, a kind of piano, in the band named after him.
Sy Snootles sings in the band and dances along. Her design is meant to evoke a mysterious femme fatale, but due to the proportions and the heavily emphasized eyes and lips, she mainly looks: ridiculous. Sy has received a makeover in newer versions of Episode 6, and her puppet was replaced by a digital figure. However, that only led to a worsened version – fortunately, the fate of the galaxy does not depend on her and Max Rebo.
