3. Kill Bill – Volume 1
When thinking about brutal action films, most people probably immediately think of Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino. To escape the world of assassins, The Bride
flees from her command and tries to lead a normal life. But her past catches up with her and causes a massacre in which she is supposedly killed. However, she survives and seeks revenge.
At its core, the film is a classic revenge story but with the style and dialogues of Tarantino. Kill Bill is influenced by Asian martial arts films and tries to translate that aesthetics in its own way. A true classic of revenge and action cinema.
4. The Night Comes for Us
With the The Raid
films, Indonesian cinema showed that it can easily keep up with Hollywood with brutal and choreographed fight scenes. The Night Comes for Us hits a similar note and tells the story of a deserted elite assassin who must flee from gangsters.
If you know The Raid, you know what to expect here. Brutal martial arts action without CGI and unnecessary effects. The fights take your breath away and visualize the story in the Indonesian underworld. If you liked The Raid, you will love The Night Comes for Us. But be warned, the film is not for the faint of heart.
