In Path of Exile 2, one class dominates the leaderboard of the best players. We explain what makes it so good.
Which class is it? In PoE2, there are many different classes and with each one, you can use different builds to become as strong as possible. However, if you look at the top 1,000 players of the game, sorted by their achieved level in the game, you quickly realize that the Stormweaver clearly dominates.
More than 430 of the top 1,000 players in the softcore mode play the Ascendancy of the Sorceress (via pathofexile2.com). If you only look at the top 100, the picture looks even more one-sided. Almost 50% of the players play the Stormweaver.
This puts the Sorceress far ahead of the Monk “Invoker” in second place with 15% and the Mercenary “Gemling Legionnaire” in third place with 10.4%. Especially since it was completely unclear at the start which class would be particularly good, it is interesting to see that one class stands out so much. Ice, Fire, and Lightning
What makes the class so good? The power over the elements in Path of Exile 2 is very strong. Beginners notice this when they follow our guide to the ice sorceress. Freezing, igniting, or shocking enemies offers plenty of room for good combos that fit the Stormweaver class.
While beginners will primarily rely on ice abilities to freeze enemies, professionals expand the frost abilities with the skill “Herald of Ice” which ensures quick clears. The frost skill makes enemies that shatter due to their “Frozen” status explode simultaneously, triggering chain reactions.
However, many Stormweavers prefer to play with electricity. For this, they use the “Archmage Spark” build, which focuses on spreading as many lightning strikes from the “Spark” ability across the map. They are fast and uncontrollable, thus reaching many enemies outside their own line of sight.
What is special about it? The true strength of the Stormweaver lies less in the elements themselves, but in the way the mechanics of these elements have been implemented in Path of Exile 2. The Stormweaver can quickly eliminate many enemies from a safe distance thanks to its abilities, making it particularly effective.
Other classes have fewer options to do the same. Melee fighters have the greatest disadvantage, as they have to walk up to the enemies to fight them. This is slower and more dangerous than fighting enemies from a safe distance with elemental attacks.
The list of the best players is based on experience points, and those who get through the areas most effortlessly gain experience points faster.
