Actually, Pokémon GO is a perfect game for parents who want to play with their children. However, a child of one father recently caused him to lose his most valuable item.
Wandering around, collecting Pokémon, engaging in a few battles: Pokémon GO is a game that can excite and occupy both children and adults. It’s no wonder that parents also enjoy going on monster hunts with their kids.
However, things can also go wrong, as one father recently had to find out. User “Nanospectro” posted a screenshot in the Pokémon GO subreddit of a father from his community (via reddit). This player, referred to as “Nicholas,” had given his four-year-old child his phone with Pokémon GO to catch the weekly research breakthrough.
The trainer’s child achieved this brilliantly, successfully capturing the bug Pokémon Paras. Unfortunately, he did it with the new Masterball – the only one currently available.
The rare Masterball disappears just like that
This is how the community reacts: The relevant post in the Pokémon GO subreddit is being thoroughly discussed by the community. The Masterball has just recently arrived in Pokémon GO, and additional copies are expected to be rarely available. When one can get another is currently completely uncertain.
Accordingly, many trainers save the ball for something special since the Masterball guarantees a 100% catch rate for any wild Pokémon. This makes creatures like the constantly fleeing Galar birds very desirable among many players as Pokémon for which the Masterball should be used.
Paras from the research breakthrough, on the other hand, is likely very, very low on the list of suitable candidates.
That’s why trainers are currently joking a bit about the situation:
- “It gets even funnier when Nicholas sees a 3500-CP Galar bird later in the day,” says one user (via reddit).
- “What? The child is just a bug collector. That was the ultimate reward for him,” speculates another trainer (via reddit): “That, or the Paras mushroom jumped onto the human and commanded him to do it.”
- “I knew such posts would come… but MY GOD,” another one empathizes (via reddit).
- “It hurts to see that,” writes a user (via reddit).
In the further comments, some trainers discuss that such situations can indeed happen more often with children. Some also write that Pokémon have been sent, stardust has been spent, or items like star pieces or lucky eggs have suddenly disappeared after kids played unsupervised.
In such cases, the Masterball can also quickly disappear. Some players now fear that theirs could also be affected:
- “I’m afraid my 4-year-old will do the same if I don’t watch. So I’m planning to finish the quest only when I’m ready to use the Masterball,” explains one (via reddit).
- “I have small children who love Pokémon GO. I share the concern, the ball is even pink and purple, which are their favorite colors,” comments one (via reddit).
Some trainers simply advise keeping an eye on how the child plays – or alternatively, creating a separate account for them. Others suggest leveling up the Paras to best buddy now – after all, it’s something special with the Masterball.
