Warlocks are getting strong value in Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs with a complete board clear for just 4 mana!
There are only a few weeks left until the next expansion for Hearthstone is released. With Kobolds and Catacombs, there are plenty of new cards, and the developers are already teasing fresh reveals daily.
After introducing some crazy cards last week, Blizzard is following up by presenting some of the most powerful board clears that Hearthstone has ever seen.
Warlocks can cast the new spell Cataclysm for just 4 mana. It destroys all minions on the battlefield (including their own) and discards the Warlock’s hand. This is a risky move, but thanks to the hero power and 4 remaining mana crystals (from turn 10), one can quickly recover. This could be an interesting play, especially against decks waiting for a single combination of minions.
In any case, it’s a nice rescue if this is the only card in hand. Cataclysm will surely lead to some great “top deck” moments!
For Priests, another board clear is on the horizon. For 7 mana, there’s the spell Psychic Scream. It removes all minions on the board and shuffles them into the opponent’s deck – including the Priest’s own minions. Psychic Scream is thus the first complete board-clearing spell that can completely bypass deathrattle mechanics of cards.
This is also a great way to hand the opponent a few “useless” cards – like a Shaman’s totems.
But even beyond the spells, there are some cool new minions. Paladins receive the legendary card Lynessa Sunsorrow. She has stats of only 1/1 for 7 mana, but her battlecry ensures that any spells cast by the Paladin on minions will also affect Lynessa.
So anyone who has been diligently spreading Blessing of Kings or Blessing of Might can summon a truly strong Lynessa. This should make her a valuable addition to many buff decks that can now rely even more on enhancements.
