The “Opening Night Live” kicks off the gamescom 2020. This is a show that will get you ready for the digital event with some world premieres and updates on games.
What kind of show is this? When the digital gates to gamescom open on Thursday evening (August 27), host Geoff Keighley, whom you already know as the host and producer of the “Game Awards,” will greet you there.
When does the Opening Night Live start? The pre-show of the Opening Night Live begins on August 27 at 7:30 PM. It will last about half an hour, and the actual opening ceremony of gamescom 2020 will start at 8:00 PM.
From 7:00 PM, you can watch us live on stream and chat with us about what you see until around midnight.

What will the Opening Night Live show? Preview of the program
This is what you can expect: The Opening Night Live is set to run for about two hours and will be broadcast from a studio in Los Angeles. Due to the Corona pandemic, there will be no live audience.
You can expect content on 38 games from 18 different publishers. Not all of them are new games, but some are just updates to existing games. However, the ONL show will not be without new releases.
We already know of 5 world premieres:
- Call of Duty Black Ops – Cold War
- Fall Guys: Season 2
- DOOM Eternal – Story Expansion
- STAR WARS Squadrons
- World of Warcraft: Shadowlands
There will also be some information about the new expansion Beyond Light for Destiny 2.
