The Xbox Series X was released worldwide on November 10, 2020. So far, there hasn’t been a real exclusive title to boost console sales. But with Starfield, the Xbox Series X seems to have finally found its system seller.
Why is Starfield the system seller now? In the past, there haven’t been many titles that made Xbox Series X sales surge. The exclusives that have been released for Microsoft’s console so far include, for example, the following games:
- Halo Infinite
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Forza Horizon 5
But with Starfield, that has changed. In the USA, the shipping giant Amazon records a sales rank increase of 1,056 percent. Just in time for the release of Starfield, which will take place tomorrow, demand is rising for the only console platform on which the title is released (via vg247.com).
Apart from Starfield, MeinMMO has also come up with eight other reasons why the Xbox Series X might be preferred over the PS5.

In the United States of America, the Xbox Series X ranks fifth. In Germany, it ranks seventh, and that only when “Xbox Series X” is selected as a category (via amazon.de).
Some of the sales likely come from players who were able to play the title early thanks to the early access phase. The Xbox Game Pass offered a premium upgrade that allowed fans to start the game earlier. Alternatively, there was the premium edition for 109.99 euros.
The positive test scores have likely contributed to this. Starfield is well received in international reviews. Among other things, the faction quests, colonies, and jetpack battles are praised.

What does the sales rank increase mean? The sales rank increase should not be confused with actual sales figures. The 1,056% only means that the console has climbed that much percent in the ranking.
So, the Xbox Series X doesn’t necessarily have to have been sold 1,056% more.
Notably, the trend applies only to the Xbox Series X. There has been no such increase for the Xbox Series S. Since the console does not have a disc drive, Starfield can only be played either in the console’s shop or via the Xbox Game Pass.
