In FIFA 22 goalkeepers fly through the goal like cats and the defense lines are more stable than ever. This makes scoring a real challenge. Often, there are numerous shots in the statistics, but no goals.
But don’t worry, we explain which shooting methods in FIFA 22 can still lead to goals by the dozen.
Long shots are the strongest weapon for scoring in FIFA 22
In FIFA 21, long shots played only a minor role, but now in FIFA 22, beautiful long shots are extremely dangerous again and really easy to execute. So if you find yourself free in front of the penalty area, risk a powerful long shot; the probability of scoring a goal in FIFA 22 is currently extremely high.
This is what you need to pay attention to: Very important for a long shot goal is that you use a finesse shot. Here’s how:
- Hold R1/RB,
- aim with the left stick at the goal
- and charge the shot with the shoot button.
If your shooter doesn’t have the best shooting stats, the Timed-Finish feature will become very important again. It still exists in FIFA 22 and is executed by pressing the shoot button again just before the foot touches the ball. Then your shot will be on target with even more precision.
If you mess up the timing, you can probably forget the shot.
How to score in the penalty area
Since long shots are not always an option, you should know how to best score in the penalty area. The downside: Here, the goalkeepers are particularly strong and save almost every shot with extremely quick reflexes.
Therefore, there are a few things you should no longer do in FIFA 22:
- Don’t shoot too often to the near post, as those quick keepers will be there.
- Don’t use finesse shots inside the penalty area, as they lack power.
There are two particularly effective ways to score goals from the penalty area. The first is the power shot, which you should aim for the far post.
This is how the power shot works:
- Aim with the left stick at a corner and
- charge the shoot button (Circle).
But besides the power shot, the low shot also causes fear and panic among the goalkeepers again. You can even aim this for the near post and expect a goal.
This is how the low shot works:
- Aim with the left stick at the desired corner of the goal,
- hold R1 and L1
- and charge the shot with the shoot button.
