While others die with a full raid group, three players triumph without a healer. They have defeated the first boss in the current raid of World of Warcraft.
Time and again, players in World of Warcraft achieve amazing feats that one would actually expect only much later. Now, a small group has managed to defeat a current raid boss – with only 30% of the players normally present. And they completely did without a healer.
What happened? Three players managed to defeat the first boss of Castle Nathria, the current raid of World of Warcraft, on normal difficulty. Normally, at least 10 people are required on this difficulty, of which 2-3 healers are quite common. However, the group manages to defeat the boss in just under 9 minutes.
What kind of players were they? The players are the Affliction Warlock Appleslop, the Fire Mage Feromerorn, and the Vengeance Demon Hunter Pidgeys. With an item level between 223 and 227, they are already quite close to the current optimum.
What is so special about it? In WoW: Shadowlands, the first season is still active. This means that Castle Nathria still belongs to the current content, and the best possible gear is only slightly above the raid compared to later patches.
It is also noteworthy that the entire action took place without a healer, even though they could of course rely on health stones and a resurrection in combat.
However, the Demon Hunter tank is also very good at self-healing, so they can bridge several passages without a healer. That they managed to do this in a 9-minute fight is remarkable.
Stats still weak, it’s going to get worse: In general, it must be noted that the attributes of the players are currently still quite weak. Most secondary attributes are still in the low double-digit range, which will change only with higher item levels. With the upcoming patches, it is likely that actions will again be possible where players can completely solo certain bosses. Shriekwing is a good candidate for this.
Nevertheless, Shriekwing is the easiest boss of Nathria and therefore offers the best opportunity for such a feat. Still, it is noteworthy that players are already going up against current raid bosses in groups of three.
In WoW Classic, players are doing something similar – two players defeated a raid boss meant for 40 people.
