Since Season 3 of Fortnite was released, players have also had the opportunity to try out new weapons. We will show you who can benefit from the new weapons, what they can do, and whether using them in combat is worth it.
Which weapons are we talking about? In Season 3, players received not only a new map and finally peace, but also new weapons to continue annihilating in Battle Royale. These are the three weapons:
- Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR)
- Hammer Assault Rifle
- Double-barrel Shotgun
We will give you a detailed breakdown of each weapon, explain where their best usage areas are, and show you all the information you should know to outsmart your opponents.
Important info about weapons – Damage, magazine size, and more
All weapons from Epic Games have strengths and weaknesses, but some guns should be ignored. They either fail to compete or are too unwieldy to handle. Here’s what these weapons can do:
Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR)
Is it worth using, and if so, for whom? The Designated Marksman Rifle has its strengths primarily at a great range. With the generous zoom of the scope, you can take on a sniper shooter and even win. Due to the large magazine, you have more ammunition and thus more endurance than with a sniper.
The damage is also impressive. Although it is slightly less than a sniper rifle, the rate of fire and magazine size compensate for that.
A solid and appealing weapon that can find its place in the inventory of many long-range players.
Important information about the weapon:
- Damage: ranges from 45.0 – 58.0 (depending on rarity)
- Reload rate: takes 2.75 – 2.125 seconds (depending on rarity)
- Magazine size: 10 rounds
Where to find it: Everywhere on the map, in chests, on the ground, at vending machines, and at reality saplings.
Hammer Assault Rifle
Is it worth using, and if so, for whom? The Hammer Assault Rifle should be your preferred assault rifle of Season 3. At any distance, the Hammer performs well. Its unusual recoil pattern can benefit you when counter-steering – giving you more precision.
Especially at medium range or when destroying buildings, the rifle shows its true strength. The high DPS value of up to 203 points obliterates everything in suitable range. Just be careful not to overreach, as a sniper can outmatch the gun.
If you’re looking for an assault rifle in Season 3, then give the Hammer a chance. It doesn’t carry this name for nothing.
Important information about the weapon:
- Damage: ranges from 27.0 – 35.0 (depending on rarity)
- Reload rate: takes 2.42 – 1.87 seconds (depending on rarity)
- Magazine size: 20 rounds
Where to find it: Everywhere on the map, in chests, on the ground, at vending machines, and at reality saplings.
Double-barrel Shotgun
Is it worth using, and if so, for whom? The Double-barrel Shotgun is difficult to master. In capable hands, it can mow down opponents. However, in a team fight, you would likely go down with it, as each round fired causes a delay.
You will need to wait a few seconds before each subsequent shot, which makes you vulnerable.
Combined with an SMG or an MP, you can certainly score a few kills, but don’t expect too much from it. There are other shotguns on the map that far outclass the Double-barrel in range and reload rate.
Important information about the weapon:
- Damage: ranges from 80.0 – 99.0 (depending on rarity)
- Reload rate: takes 9.24 – 7.14 seconds (depending on rarity)
- Magazine size: 8 rounds
Where to find it: Everywhere on the map, in chests, on the ground, at vending machines, and at reality saplings.
We have now looked at all the new weapons for you and tested in battles how well they perform compared to their predecessors.
Note: This list is a compilation of the new weapons, which, although rated by me and many other players – does not necessarily have to hold true for you. As always, it ultimately depends on personal taste, individual preferences, and simply on whether you can handle the respective weapon or not.
Just because many people find them good or the stats are top, it doesn’t automatically mean that you will perform well with them.
Feel free to let us know in the comments how you feel about the new weapons and whether you agree with us or have had different experiences.
