This week, three new MMORPGs were released, each targeting a completely different audience. Additionally, a new patch was released in New World, and ESO announced its next expansion. We summarize all the important news of the week from MeinMMO.
The highlights of the week:
- On January 25, Broken Ranks was released, which we also tried out due to its unusual combat system.
- Mortal Online 2 is a new PvP MMORPG. We summarized the first player numbers and reviews on Steam.
- The third new game is Zenith, a VR MMORPG. It received a lot of attention at launch but still feels a bit unfinished.
The controversy of the week: Did one developer ruin the story of WoW alone? At least that’s what some rumors claim.
The discussion of the week: Lost Ark unexpectedly announced three new areas and a higher max level right at launch. However, this has sparked some discussions. On one hand, more and, above all, better content is always good. On the other hand, there is also criticism that the first dungeon tiers can simply be skipped. What do you think about it?
Discussions about player numbers in New World and missing release date in GW2
This is what happened in the major MMORPGs:
- The new expansion for WoW could fulfill all player wishes, at least according to Cortyn. Additionally, there was a cool story about a warrior who unlocked nearly all plate armors in the game.
- The new expansion High Isle has been announced for ESO. Accordingly, we also had an interview with the story leads on the topic of Bretons and the in-game card game.
- Final Fantasy XIV can finally be purchased again 6 weeks after the release of the expansion Endwalker.
- In Guild Wars 2, there is currently a lot of skepticism due to the missing release date for the expansion End of Dragons. It is supposed to come in February, but it is still not clear when exactly.
- New World has released the new patch 1.3. This brought dungeon mutators and a new equipment level. There were also discussions about hiding player numbers, which we consider unnecessary:
