What is Undecember? From former developers of Lost Ark, the new action MMO Undecember will be released in 2022. Unlike typical hack and slash games, you do not have classes to choose from.
Instead, you get a classless system with a skill tree that allows you to build your own characters. In contrast, the grind for new and better equipment remains a classic focal point.
Undecember, however, borrows some features from MMORPGs. This includes social hubs, dungeons, and PvP.
Who should check out Undecember? Visually and in terms of gameplay and scope, Undecember most closely resembles Path of Exile. So, if you’re looking for an alternative to PoE, you should keep an eye on Undecember.
If you are interested in Lost Ark, Undecember will also be interesting for you. The mix of MMO(RPG) and hack and slash is central to both games, just with different emphases.
When and where is the release? Undecember launched in South Korea on January 13, 2022. However, a global release is still pending. It is scheduled to be released worldwide later this year.
Wizard with a Gun

What is Wizard with a Gun? You play as a wizard. With a gun. What else? But jokes aside: In Wizard with a Gun, the visuals are reminiscent of the hand-drawn Don’t Starve and the gameplay likely feels quite similar.
You traverse different areas and fight against creatures or uncover arcane secrets. There seems to be no deeper story, as the focus is on gameplay. Wizard with a Gun can be played solo or in online co-op with up to 4 other wizards. The game offers features like:
- Crafting and customizing your magical weapons
- Equipment and cosmetics
- randomly generated biomes through which you battle
At its core, Wizard with a Gun is more of a roguelite. However, due to the ability to equip and customize your character with loot, the game also falls into the classic ARPG category.
Who should check out Wizard with a Gun? With its approach, Wizard with a Gun fits into the roguelite game genre. This makes the game particularly interesting for fans of games like The Binding of Isaac or Dead Cells.
The possible combinations of magic are strongly reminiscent of Magicka, whose fans might also find a gem here. Additionally, Wizard with a Gun is developed by Devolver Digital, a studio known for making completely crazy games with often rather quirky humor.

When and where is the release? A specific date has not yet been announced, but Wizard with a Gun is expected to be released in 2022 for PC on Steam and for Nintendo Switch.
Outlook for 2023 and beyond
Two major hack and slash titles are still pending for the coming years: Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4. While PoE isn’t quite sure when it will be released, we do know from Diablo 4 at least the year: 2023.
The announcement was accompanied by the presentation of the last class that will be available at release – the Necromancer:
There are already more details about the Necromancer, including its 4 specializations. We also know that Diablo 4 will have a shop. There has already been a discussion because some fans feared it would have Pay2Win like Diablo Immortal.
However, the developers explained the monetization of Diablo 4 in more detail and promised that it would not resemble the system used in Diablo Immortal. More information will certainly follow in the coming months, including a specific release date.
