New World
What kind of game is this? The open-world MMORPG New World takes you to the mystical island of Aeternum, where you must initially fight against all kinds of creatures. Instead of choosing a class, you level up the weapons of your choice and receive abilities for it. Depending on which weapon you choose, you are accordingly a healer, tank, or DD.
The combat system is action-based, meaning you have to manually dodge enemy attacks and strike at the right moment. In the open world, you will find not only enemies but also many secrets, open-world events, and many resources for professions.
In New World, there are twelve different expeditions, which are the game’s PvE dungeons. A raid has also been added to the game since 2024. However, for many players, the main focus of the game is on the PvP aspects, although they are not mandatory.
In PvP, you can expect territorial wars, where you must compete with 49 allies against another guild with 50 characters. The winner gains control over the territory. These battles are considered the highlight of the game for many, quite similar to the battle for the throne in Throne and Liberty.
Also, the crafting system is important for many players. You have to gather resources at the sides of your adventures and can use them to craft items to participate in the game’s economy.
Why is now a good time to get started?
New World received a sort of relaunch in autumn 2024 called “New World: Aeternum,” which was released almost simultaneously with Throne and Liberty and makes the MMORPG playable on consoles for the first time. Also, the first 10-player raid “Hort der Gorgoren” was released.
Also in PvP, there is something new. The new zone “The Cursed Mist” in the southwest of the pirate’s reef offers an open PvP area where you can compete with other players. New bosses and items were also added to the game with the expansion, providing fresh character progression for players who had already finished a character.
While New World previously suffered from technical issues, these seem to have been largely resolved. The quest design has also been revised. While before you constantly had to go to the same place to defeat the same enemies, the tasks are now noticeably improved.
New World therefore offers both PvP and PvE players new content in 2024. Those who enjoy both aspects in MMORPGs will find thanks to the Aeternum version an MMORPG that is just waiting to be explored.
