Most MMORPGs come with a fantasy setting that we basically all know. We at MeinMMO have compiled a few exceptions for you.
For this list, we made sure to distance ourselves from typical MMORPG settings and instead present something new. So MMORPGs that do not take place in a fantasy or science fiction world.
In the games presented, we paid attention to the fact that they have different settings. Moreover, all of them are playable on Steam.

What kind of game is this? Trove is a sandbox MMORPG that visually reminds you of Minecraft at first glance, but is a bit more colorful. It takes place in an open voxel world where you can build your own structures.
There are various classes, like the Shadow Hunter, Boomeranger and a Pirate Captain. With these classes, you level up different abilities and upgrade your equipment.
In the endgame, you fight your way through huge dungeons that look different in each realm. Even 7 years after the release, Trove still receives regular updates.
Apart from combat, the MMORPG offers content such as fishing, farming, pets, sailing, flying, piñata parties, and more. It does not take itself too seriously, presenting itself in a more humorous light.
Here you can find the Steam page for Trove.
Who is it suitable for? If you’re looking for a mix of MMORPG, Minecraft, and dungeon crawler, Trove is perfect for you. However, there is no true lore. Instead, you explore dungeons and need to grind a lot. If that sounds good to you, you should definitely check out Trove. It is available for free on various platforms, even on the Nintendo Switch.
