In Destiny 2, the first PvP event of Season 15 is still running for a few more days. We have gathered 3 strong arguments for the event. However, there is also one reason against the Iron Banner.
In Destiny 2, the Iron Banner is running until the next Weekly Reset. The PvP event is a great opportunity at the beginning of the young Season 15, the Season of the Lost, to improve your Guardian and grab strong items.
You need to hurry, because starting from September 7, Lord Saladin will leave the Tower, along with the playlist – at least until presumably October. MeinMMO has highlighted 3 good reasons why you should spend the weekend in the Iron Banner. As a finale, there’s also a bit of criticism of the event – do you agree?
New Event Loot – Especially One Weapon is Worth It
This is new in the Iron Banner: The Iron Banner has stagnated for a long time. The actually mass-market PvP event from Destiny 1 had increasingly lost its shine. Especially because there was hardly any new loot at all.
Now in Season 15, there are completely new armor sets for all 3 characters to farm for the first time in years (see title image). The design is controversial among Guardians, but it is definitely better than old reskins. Conveniently, you will receive the entire set at the end of a small quest from Lord Saladin, which should not cost you more than 2 evenings of gameplay.
In addition, there are 2 completely new weapons. The two new guns complement the strong arsenal from Season 14, which you can still obtain. Here are the two new weapons:
- The pulse rifle “Forgemaster’s Oath” (390) with Solar damage
- The pistol “Peacebond” (491 – Salvo) with Stasis damage
- You will receive both weapons guaranteed once per character via the seasonal Iron Banner quest – after that, you need some loot luck
This small pistol rocks: The star among the new weapons is the inconspicuous pistol “Peacebond”. Many Guardians are currently raving about the Stasis weapon in the kinetic slot.
Even big names praise the little monster in PvE and PvP:
- True Vanguard calls the new weapon: “King of all pistols” (via YouTube)
- Ehroar describes Peacebond as: “Stasis pistol that you must get [in PvE]” (via YouTube)
- Drewskys praises the weapon as: “insanely good” and is really thrilled about the new Stasis perk (via YouTube)
The new Stasis perk is “Gravekeeper”. This creates a large Stasis crystal after precision kills. So you can either start synergistic loops with Stasis classes or use the nasty ice powers even without a Stasis class. Additionally, perk combos like Shotgun Targeting + Demolitionist are recommended if you’re looking for a reliable and deadly weapon for PvP.
Quickly Grind the New Ritual Weapon from Season 15
How to get the “Hegemony” rocket launcher: With Season 15, a new quest weapon (ritual weapon) has come to Destiny 2: the rocket launcher Hegemony. You can currently obtain this new weapon really fast.
Many Guardians are used to earning this weapon through a quest from gunsmith Banshee-44 – but that is now different. In the Season of the Lost, the new quest weapon is not obtained through quests but through rank-ups (Rank 16) with the 3 NPCs Zavala, the Drifter, and Lord Shaxx.
Coinciding with the Iron Banner, Bungie has increased rank gain in PvP. By the way, you will level up with Shaxx really quickly and can grind to Rank 16 much faster than usual, just through Iron Banner matches and bounties.
The bonus ends with the next reset on September 7, when the Iron Banner will also disappear until likely October.
4x Top Loot from the Iron Lord Just for Participating
That’s why you level up quickly: The Iron Banner is always a great opportunity to significantly raise your Guardian’s power level. Lord Saladin has also brought 4 bounties with the new quest, all of which guarantee strong top loot.
- Only through the top loot can you increase your power level above 1320 in Season 15 – up to a maximum of 1,330 (without artifact bonus).
- The high level will benefit you in the Iron Banner itself, in the Trials, and in PvE endgame like Nightfall or while farming new Exotics in sectors.
Sources for top loot are otherwise quite limited. Only a limited number of activities distribute the valuable resource. Often, you have to seek top loot in raids or other endgame activities. So take the opportunity and complete the 4 Iron Banner bounties. You only need to participate and get kills – which weapon or class you use is completely irrelevant.
What has Been Annoying in the Iron Banner for Years
Why the bad token system? Bungie has almost completely banned the dreadful token system from Destiny 2. Because Guardians do not like receiving placeholder tokens instead of direct loot at the end of an activity, which they then have to exchange for loot after a trip to the NPC.
It is also annoying that you have to manually hand in the tokens in small steps and have no influence on your loot from them. It’s a gamble where you often end up with useless stuff despite investing a lot of time.
With Season 15, for example, Zavala has been revamped and all his Vanguard tokens deleted. Also, the Trials will be overhauling the old system on September 10. Lord Saladin and the Iron Banner stubbornly cling to this old mechanic from 2017.
According to Bungie’s community manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffner, nothing will change anytime soon. He speaks of a possible change in “a future season” (via Twitter).
Due to the antiquated token system, it’s quite hard to fish for the new strong pistol “Peacebond” apart from the 3 guaranteed quest drops. However, the Iron Banner has regained some of its old glory and is especially worthwhile at the start of the season.
What do you think of the Iron Banner in Season 15? Have you done all 3 things we described and are now proud owners of the new weapons – hopefully with good rolls. Let us know in the comments how you plan to spend your Destiny weekend.
