The assassin Mireille Bouquet receives a strange email one evening from Kirika Yuumara, a young student from Japan, inviting her to take a trip into the past. The attachment contains a song from Mireille’s past, which is why she accepts the request.
However, at their first meeting, the two women find themselves under fire from armed men, but they succeed in defending themselves. It becomes apparent that Kirika also has unfamiliar talents regarding murder and mayhem – abilities that she cannot even remember acquiring.
From now on, the two operate under the code name “Noir” while accepting new contracts to slowly, but surely, get to the bottom of their shared past…
What makes Noir special? Noir is likely a series that many from the older generation saw on linear television back in the day – late at night, anime often aired on some of the smaller stations, and this was how one came into contact with Noir. For many, it probably even marked their first real contact with anime.
Noir takes its time with the storytelling, which might seem too slow to some – because there is not action or a new revelation every few minutes.
