In League of Legends, there are substantial prize money and salaries. The top laner from “Team Liquid”, Impact, is 24 years old and has been a professional since 2012. In 2013, he was even a world champion. Impact shows what he has bought with the money: an apartment complex in Seoul.
Who is the player? The Korean Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong is 24 years old. Impact had his prime years in 2013 and 2014 in South Korea. He played for SK Telecom, the greatest LoL team in history.
He was the top laner for the 2013 World Championship team from SK Telecom T1. He won the title in Season 3 of League of Legends alongside Bengi, the superstar Faker, Piglet, and Poohmandu.
In 2015, however, a new rule was implemented that no longer allowed “second teams” in South Korea. As a result, several South Korean players left their teams when they were consolidated, resulting in only 5 starting spots instead of 10. Impact used this as an opportunity to earn his money in North America:
- Since 2015, Impact has been one of the “import players” in the US league.
- Between 2016 and 2017, he was active for Cloud 9.
- Since 2017, he has been the top laner for Team Liquid, the most successful US team in recent years. Here he has won 4 championships in a row.
This “fame” from the Korean championship title in 2013 seems to have paid off well for Impact.
Saved money for 7 years
This is what he says now: Impact bought an apartment complex in Seoul. The name “Impact” is also displayed on the building. The player says, “Welcome to my top lane.”
He has been saving some of the money he has earned in LoL since 2012 to now buy this apartment complex. He says he has already set up a “boot camp” and is looking forward to helping players coming to South Korea.
The site Inven states that with an annual salary of around one million $, Impact is among the highest-paid players in the LCS, the North American professional league of LoL.
5-story building in Seoul
What kind of building is this? As the site Inven reports, it is a five-story building where Impact and his family will live. The first two floors are intended for tenants.
Impact apparently plans to rent out parts of the house for a small fee to LoL teams that want to set up a “boot camp” in South Korea. Teams from Europe and the USA like to travel to Asia for training camps before major tournaments to compete against strong teams from China and South Korea.
What’s behind it: Many outsiders often scoff: “What will the player do when his career is over – what does he want to work as, if he has only been gaming?”
At 24, Impact is surely closer to the end of a LoL career than the beginning. With such an investment, he is building for his future. Statistically, many LoL players end their careers in their early 20s.

Impact financially benefits from the situation in North America: The LCS is considered an “import league” that is crazy about LoL players who have had a strong season once in Asia or Europe. They are paid high salaries.
But with 4 national titles in a row, Impact was apparently worth the money that Team Liquid pays him.
