The perennial favorite Minecraft is commonly regarded as a game for young and old alike: Even elementary school children frolic in the colorful block world and unleash their creativity. Nevertheless, the enemy mobs can be quite nasty if they catch you at an inconvenient moment – this became a fate for a player with a heart condition.
What is the “Wimp Mode”? This refers to the peaceful mode in Minecraft, the lowest of the four difficulty levels in the game. Here, no hostile monsters spawn, the player character does not suffer from hunger, and regains lost health.
While it is possible to die at this difficulty level, such as from fall damage, lava, or drowning, it is significantly harder. Generally, even beginners are advised to set the difficulty to at least “Easy”: There are monsters that deal little damage and drop more loot.
However, a 24-year-old Minecraft player has now reported on Reddit that he was ordered by his mother to play in peaceful mode because he was simply too easily scared.
Zombies Were Too Much for the Heart-Sick Player
What happened to the player? According to Reddit user Nekorianz in a post from March 18, 2024, he experienced heart problems when he got startled in Minecraft by suddenly appearing mobs: Three zombies and a creeper supposedly appeared out of nowhere.
The player barely managed to inform his mother before he lost consciousness. When he woke up, Nekorianz told his mother what had happened. She then reported it to his doctors. Now he can only play Minecraft in peaceful mode to avoid further heart problems.
Why is the mother reacting so strictly? Nekorianz reports that he suffers from arrhythmias due to an underlying condition and has various restrictions that affect not only his daily life but also his gaming.
In the comments, he explains that before his diagnosis, he used to enjoy playing horror games or being competitive. However, now he has to rely on more relaxing titles to avoid unnecessary stress (via Reddit).
However, Nekorianz does not hold his mother’s restrictions against her, even though he sometimes misses games like CS:GO: She has always cared for his health and takes him to various medical examinations and treatments.
Moreover, the player shows understanding for his mother’s concerns, as his father passed away just a few months ago from the same genetic condition that he suffers from (via Reddit).
How is the community reacting? The Minecraft community showed their best side in the comments. Some see the humor in the situation that a 24-year-old has to have his gaming habits limited by his mother, but they also wish him the best for his health.
Many players also give Nekorianz tips on how to have fun in peaceful mode, what he should better avoid, and what settings could provide a scare-free yet entertaining gaming experience.
