Games with over 20 years of waiting time
Half Life 3 (21 years)
Gordon Freeman with his well-known crowbar has been waiting 21 years for a worthy sequel. In gaming, Half Life 3 could almost be seen as a meme, as there are yearly rumors that Valve is working on the final installment of Half Life, yet fans still have not seen any details about the game. For many, the release would be a crowning conclusion to the journey of the scientist who must fight against aliens and crabs.
Dino Crisis (22 years)
An ancient title is Dino Crisis from Capcom. The game is now 22 years old, and there is still no sequel, and for good reason – Monster Hunter. According to former Capcom developer Shinji Mikami, the hunting game with oversized monsters has led to the saturation of dino games. As long as Capcom is successful with Monster Hunter, it would be challenging to develop a remake or a sequel to Dino Crisis. Nevertheless, hope dies last (Source: playfront.de).
Warcraft 4 (23 years)
Just like StarCraft 2, but older, Warcraft 3 has also aged. The game is now 23 years old, and a sequel is still nowhere in sight. Looking at the comments on Reddit, you’ll find many fans hopeful for a sequel, but some players believe it’s very unlikely. RTS games are difficult to monetize and thus probably not attractive enough for Blizzard to invest in, according to players. Perhaps there won’t be a Warcraft 4 this year, but hope could lie in the future.
