Games with over 15 years of waiting time
StarCraft 3 (15 years)
StarCraft 2 is considered one of the best RTS games on the market, but the game is now 15 years old, and fans want a new, fresh installment. Blizzard, the developers behind the RTS, are aware of the players’ wishes, but so far, it does not look like StarCraft 3 will enter development anytime soon. Blizzard has a lot to do, and all attention is currently on World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and many other well-known games.
Dante’s Inferno 2 (15 years)
With Dante and Vergil through the nine circles of hell and simultaneously slaying huge demons. As an alternative to God of War, Dante’s Inferno was a successful title, and the developers promised a continuation after the last boss fight… Well, nothing came of it. Even 15 years after its release, there is no sign of a sequel. Additionally, the studio Visceral Games disbanded in 2017. So a successor seems very unlikely.
Banjo-Kazooie 2 (17 years)
Banjo-Kazooie, the famous platformer from Rare, has been waiting for 17 years for a sequel, but so far, there are no signs of it. With Nuts and Bolts, the last part of the game was released, and to make matters worse, it failed to impress its community. The studio is also actively working on Sea of Thieves, which they already have a live project to manage. Thus, it is very unlikely that a sequel for the game will ever be released.
Bully 2 (19 years)
Bully, the GTA set in a schoolyard. Like L.A. Noire, this is also a test balloon from Rockstar Games. You take on the role of Jimmy, a student trying to become more popular at his school. Despite solid success, Rockstar chose not to develop a sequel. However, the game did receive a remaster and a re-release on PS4. A sequel therefore seems unlikely, but perhaps Rockstar could consider a remake in the distant future.
