In Diablo 4 there is a running gag that players have been chasing since the release: the cow level. Many consider it a rumor, yet 22,000 fans are still officially looking for it, even though Blizzard is delaying their work by a month.
What is the cow level? The cow level is a running gag in the Diablo universe where players follow a secret quest, open a portal, and then ultimately invade the realm of cows to slay cows with axes and a boss cow.
This joke has its origins as far back as Diablo 1 when players spread rumors about such a secret. However, the cow level made its debut only in Diablo 2, when a secret level related to cows was actually created. Diablo 3 also followed the trend with another secret level.
Although Blizzard always makes it clear that there is no cow level, many players are still teaming up to uncover yet another secret in Diablo 4.
A group of 22,000 players had a plausible theory, but Blizzard has now nullified a month of hard work.

Has the cow level been found in Diablo 4? Not directly. A group of over 22,000 players has joined a server on Discord. They have taken on the honorable task of gathering evidence that proves such a cow level exists in Diablo 4.

All collected clues so far lead to the town “Ked Bardu”, where there is a special shrine of the ox gods.
According to the players, there is a quest revolving around the ox gods from Ked Bardu. These statues are said to be involved in a ritual where players need to collect relics and then cleanse them. As a reward, players receive a key to a basement that reportedly holds the portal to the cow level.
What problem do the players have? The problem with the whole story is that since Patch 1.03, a code in this quest has been removed. It is unclear whether this means the quest can no longer be activated or has been completely removed from the game. The fact is, one of the leaders behind the Discord server had the following to say:
It is quite possible that we get nowhere in almost a month, considering that we essentially have to restart the search. Keep in mind that we all know much more now, not only about how the game works but also about the lore itself.
