Evan Barron, a Canadian Fortnite professional and Twitch streamer, announced on Twitter that he is stepping back from the esports of Fortnite. The reason appears to be a targeted harassment campaign and ongoing bullying that the streamer feels subjected to for some time after he had a racial outburst on Twitch.
What happened? On January 3, 2023, Canadian Fortnite pro Evan Barron issued a statement via TwitLonger, explaining that he plans to step away from Fortnite and esports in the future. Barron justified his decision by stating that he has been exposed to an ongoing harassment campaign.
He accuses three other content creators of inciting their followers to harass and insult him across various platforms. He can no longer engage in any online activity without attracting the wrath of others.
All of this has led to a significant deterioration in his mental health. Furthermore, he has lost weight and suffers from anxiety. He has been so restricted that his girlfriend could not work for a long time to take care of the Twitch streamer (217,000 followers).
21-Year-Old is Successful in Esports – Joins Clan “FaZe”
Who is Evan Barron? Evan Barron, who appeared online under the name “Cented,” is originally from Canada. The 21-year-old streamer made his breakthrough into the professional scene in 2019. Since then, he has achieved success with various teams and esports organizations and has earned prize money.
Among other achievements, he finished first twice in the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS): North America West. He then placed in the top 5 at various Fortnite tournaments. Most recently, he secured third place at the Fortnite Champion Series: Invitational 2022.
The Canadian has earned a total of $445,627 playing Fortnite (via esportearnings).

Streamer had to leave FaZe Clan after making a racist remark on stream
During his professional career, Cented played for various esports teams. After a year with “Team Liquid,” he signed with “FaZe Clan.” In mid-2022, he had to leave the “FaZe Clan” again after making a racist remark on a friend’s stream.
However, “FaZe Clan” is not the only esports organization whose members engage in misconduct. Recently, the organization “OTK,” which includes WoW streamer Asmongold, was also under criticism. Twitch streamer Mizkif is cleared after a scandal – but behaves so poorly that he is still punished
He did not expect that the community would welcome him back so readily after his comments. However, he did not anticipate the intensity of the backlash he has faced since the incidents:
I lost everything: my income, my reputation, an organization I love and admire. But I deserved it and should have expected it to come.
I can’t post anything without being harassed. Any joy I had for Fortnite and being “Cented” is gone. It’s a nightmare.

Evan “Cented” Barron regrets his remarks and, according to some reports, has worked on himself. He has reportedly completed sensitivity training, undergone therapy, and donated to charitable organizations such as Black Lives Matter.
The tweet announcing his withdrawal was also discussed controversially. Some of his former colleagues apparently forgave him and wish him all the best. However, many of his critics continue to accuse him of not taking enough responsibility for his misconduct.
